During the present moment of Peak Oil, Peak Air Travel, passenger miles have grown rapidly, but is this fossil fuel based travel sustainable? Inspired by Garry Winogrand’s “Arrivals & Departures” book, I began photographing the complex contemporary spaces of air travel in 2003. I also had a collection of photos taken in the early 1980's. Collectively this is an observed portrait of a kind of "Air Travel City," inhabited continuously around the globe by millions of travellers. The project has been exhibited in different forms and formats, and is on-going in the Anthropocene.
